We are hopeful you were able to get plenty of outside time this weekend with your children. We have a few reminders we want to share with you this Monday morning. Please read below to be up to date on what is happening over the next few weeks.
Parents/guardians please be sure to log in to families.sd54.org using your portal log-in information by Friday, May 14, and select In-Person Learning or Virtual Learning Academy for every student in your family. Please note, this is a full-year commitment. If you have not created a portal account yet, please email [email protected] for assistance. Any students who have not made an enrollment selection at the close of the May 14 window will automatically be placed in the in-person learning program for the fall.
As you know, MAP testing is beginning this week. In an effort to best understand your child’s learning needs, we are hoping all students in kindergarten through 6th grade will be able to complete the assessment in person at Aldrin School. Your child’s teacher has already communicated most of the specifics on the testing day; however, we wanted to put out a few reminders for all of our families.
Below is the schedule for MAP testing:
|Date||Grade Levels Testing|
|Monday, May 3||3rd Grade and 6th Grade|
|Tuesday, May 4||2nd Grade and 5th Grade|
|Thursday, May 6||4th Grade|
|Friday, May 7||1st Grade|
|Monday, May 10||Kindergarten 8:45 – 10:45|
|Tuesday, May 11||Kindergarten 8:45 – 10: 45|

Physical Educators from across District 54 invite you to take part in this year’s Field Day from the comfort of your own home or backyard the week of May 3rd-May 7th. Mr. Niepomnik is hopeful that many of the activities could be completed on Wednesday, May 5 since the children do not have school that day. All stations can be created using materials from around your home. Find time for fun on one night, or make the fun last all week! We have also teamed up with the District 54 Grizzlies, our Special Olympics team, to add adaptations for students who need them so we are sure everyone can participate! Since we can’t all be there to see the children in action, we are very hopeful that you will be able to post of picture on the Aldrin Padlet. We can’t wait to check them out. Click HERE to access the padlet.
Are you looking for a unique gift to give your child’s teacher during Teacher Appreciation Week May 3-7? You can donate to the District 54 Education Foundation in their honor by visiting d54foundation.org/donate and choosing THANKS from the “Give” drop-down menu. We will send a certificate to the teacher you are honoring, and your donation will support students in need in District 54. #ThankATeacher. Please click on the PDF below to see how Aldrin is celebrating this year.
