May 18, 2021

Good morning,

It is so hard to believe we are down to just two more weeks of school.  In so many ways, we feel as if we are just beginning the year. No doubt, the feeling comes from the craziness of a school year during a pandemic. Please check out a few pictures of “P Day – Picnic Day” this past Friday.  The children had a blast and the weather could not have been better.

Family Fun Night at Menchie’s

Join us May 28th from 12:00-10:00 for our Family Fun Night at Menchie’s. Bring the flyer and Aldrin PTA will receive 20% of your purchase.

Student Devices

All K-7th grade students who will be returning to D54 will be keeping their devices and headsets over summer. We are thrilled to share that they will be able to continue to access a variety of websites that will continue to support them over the summer months.  Dreambox, Reading A-Z, the Virtual Summer Learning Academy as well as Epic will be sites that will still be available to them. The children truly love these sites so we are very hopeful you can prioritize this over the summer months. Please note, your child will bring these devices back to school with them on the first day of the 21-22 school year.  All current 6th graders will bring their device with them to junior high.

If your student will not be returning to school, your child’s device must be returned to school on May 28th, the last day of school. Please note, if your child needs any files from this device, you will need to back the device up prior to returning it.

Physicals Required for Junior High Sports

School District 54 requires that any student who participates in a team OR intramural sport, (e.g. cross-country, basketball, wrestling, volleyball, cheer, poms, or track) must have a current, approved physical on file in the health office prior to tryouts. The physical must be administered by a physician or nurse practitioner and include the parent part completed and signed. The physical is valid for only one year from the date of the exam.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact the nurse at the junior high school where your child will be attending.

Have a fabulous week!

Mary Botterman and Allison Schultz
