Good morning,

We hope you had an amazing weekend with your children. It is hard to believe that spring is right around the corner, especially with today’s weather forecast.  Our hope is that the snow will not stay around very long.  The children have loved having the warmer temperatures for lunch recess and mask breaks.  We are keeping our fingers crossed this is one and done.

Picture Day for the 20/21 School Year

We are thrilled to announce that even in this year of unknowns; we will be able to have pictures taken of our students from Lifetouch.  Our scheduled date is Thursday, April 1. Our in-person students will be photographed in the morning and our remote students will have the opportunity to sign up for a time in the afternoon.  More information on scheduling for remote only students will be forthcoming by early next week.

Finding Happiness through A Good Book – Aldrin On-Line Book Fair

PTA Scholarship Opportunities

As part of its commitment to life-long learning, the Schaumburg Township Council of PTAs (STC) offers scholarships for summer programs/camps to District 54 students currently in Kindergarten through 7th grade who wish to broaden their education, talents, and experiences. This is a great way to fund your child’s summer activities. Please open the documents below to apply by April 7thIn order to be considered for the scholarship, the parent/guardian must be Aldrin PTA member by March 1, 2021.

Report Cards

Trimester 2 Report Cards are now accessible through Parent Portal. Thank you for your continued support of your child and their learning.  There is no doubt, it truly does take a village to raise a child.  Thank you for being a part of the Aldrin village.

District Food Pantry for Aldrin Families:

The D54 Food Pantry at Lakeview is open to all Aldrin families. Although you will not be able to come into the pantry due to COVID restrictions, you will be able to place an order online and pick up at the pantry site.  Please click on this link to place your order online.  If you have any questions, please call (847) 357-6600. The pantry Supervisors are Dianne Buffo and Aubrey Hayes.

2021-2022 Registration

Registration for the 2021-22 school year will open on Monday, March 29 through the Infinite Campus Portal. Please login to review the current information and make any necessary changes. If you do not have a portal account, you should have received an email on March 13 inviting you to create one.

As a reminder, all families are required to prove they live within District 54 boundaries every year. If we are unable to verify your residency electronically, you will receive a letter by U.S. mail, which will list the residency documents you need to provide to the school office to complete your registration.

You are also able to pay the $50 consumable fee for 2021-22, as well as purchase milk and sign up for the instructional device insurance through the portal. If you believe you will qualify for the Free Lunch Program in the 2021-22 school year, and therefore will receive a fee waiver, do not pay the consumable material fee now. Applications will be available in August for the Free Lunch Program.

IAR (Illinois Assessment of Readiness) 

Each spring, students in District 54 take federally mandated assessments (IAR) designed to help school districts understand how our students are growing academically.  This year, the English Language Arts and Math Assessment for grades 3-8 will be given at school over three days between April 5th and April 23rd.  After spring break, the classroom teachers will communicate the specific days your child will be testing. Remote learners are not required to test, however, if you would like to bring your child into school for testing please reach out to us at 847-357-5400 and let us know.  Remote learners not participating in the test will be provided with alternate lessons during the three testing days. Thank you in advance for your flexibility and support as we complete these assessments.

5 Essentials Survey:

Once again we are reaching out to our families and asking you to participate in the annual Illinois 5Essentials Survey to provide us with your perspective and help guide our school improvement efforts. The parent survey will be available online through April 2, 2021.Link for parents to take the survey: http://survey.5-essentials.org/illinois/survey/parent/.  Simply type in Buzz Aldrin to find the survey for our school.
