Good morning,
We are hopeful you had a great weekend with your children. With the frigid temperatures, it was probably a good weekend to play some board games and watch a little football. As we head into this week, our staff will be working with the children on the final additions to their student-led presentation for conferences. We are looking forward to your child taking the lead to set goals for the remainder of the year.
We continue to practice our safety mitigations of social distancing during our arrival and dismissal times. As a reminder, if you are a parent of a kindergartener, you may wait for your child near the tennis courts. For all other students, we ask you to arrange a meeting place with your child off school grounds.
If you use the Aldrin drop off/pick up zone, the driver must remain in the vehicle. This is a no parking zone. For arrival, you will simply have your child exit the car on the passenger side. For dismissal, instruct your child to walk down to the zone where our staff monitors the children. Please note, the snow on the parkway provides an obstacle for parents using this zone. When you arrive in this area, please look to our staff to indicate when it is safe for you to pull up into the entryway of the parking lot. This allows the children to dismount on the passenger side of your vehicle in an area that has been cleared of snow. Be advised, our buses will be waved into the lot upon arrival which is why it is imperative for you to wait until the staff members motions it is safe for you to pull forward.
This year we will need to think outside the box to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Unfortunately, with the safety mitigations we have in place, we will not be able to exchange cards this year. Instead, we encourage our families to discuss ways we can spread kindness through words and actions. Our hope is that every child’s eyes with light up with joy simply because a peer has used kind words and gestures. Thanks in advance for helping us with this endeavor.
As long as the wind chill is above 0, our students will continue to spend some time outside for recess. Doing this allows us to provide a much needed mask break. Please be sure to send your child to school with coats, hats, gloves, boots and snow pants. If you need help securing any of these items for your child, please reach out to one of our social workers, Rachel Bobren ([email protected] ) or Marni Sherman ([email protected]).
We will be hosting a Trimester 3 material pick-up on Tuesday, February 23 between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. This pick is for our virtual learners only. The specific schedule will be forthcoming. If your child attends school in-person, your child will receive his/her materials in class.
We look forward to meeting with you virtually on February 11th or 12th for winter conferences to connect with you and discuss your student’s progress towards his/her goals. If you have not set up a time for your conference, please click the link below. Please contact your child’s teacher directly should you need to schedule a day and time outside of what is listed in the form. https://www.surveygizmo.com/s3/5847641/Aldrin-20-21-Fall-Parent-Conference-Registration

We are currently working on increasing our PTA membership for the 2020/21 school year. As many of you know, our PTA works tirelessly behind the scenes to support our students. Over the years, our PTA has allowed us to offer planners, folders, birthday books, assemblies, parties and so much more. This year, we are already formulating ways to make connections between our Aldrin families in more of a virtual way. We would love your ideas and are hopeful you will be able to support our efforts by joining the Aldrin PTA. To learn more about the Aldrin PTA and how to support through a membership, please visit https://aldrinelementary.new.memberhub.store/https://aldrinelementary.new.memberhub.store/
